Indian War In 20th Century America

I find it not only interesting but behooving that from January to November 1908, here in the United States, there was a feud between Native Americans and Japanese-Americans that ended up into the "Battle of Salamanca".

This problem started supposedly over a few chickens and resulted in casualties in the hundreds and hundreds wounded. Because of this encounter the Japanese-Americans were evicted from the City of Salamanca on November 12, 1908.

Salamanca, New York is the only city in the United States build on land least from an Indian Reservation (Seneca). The lease expires in 2030.

The City of Salamanca received its name from Don Jose de Salamanca who was an investor in the Atlantic and Great Western Railroad. He also took his name from the City of Salamanca in Spain.

The western part of New York State was known for its lumber and use of railroads between western New York cities and Pennsylvania cities.

A friend of mine was telling me over a cup of coffee in Hacketstown ,New Jersey that he drove through the city a few years ago and he found it to be an adorable place with huge trees.
