REFLECTIONS - AMOR VINCIT OMNIA
But, on thinking back, I also thought of something that happened when I was 36 years old. I was in a restaurant this past week-end and was talking to a gentleman who was perhaps in his early 30s and owned the restaurant. During the conversation the topic of Love came up and I told him it is important to tell his mother he loves her as much as he can.
I gave an example of me being 36 years old, practicing Chiropractic in Lincoln Park, New Jersey.
One of my patients was in his early sixties and said to me one day. "Have you ever told your father you love him?" My answer was that my father was very strong willed person and I didn't know how he would take it. He said "What are you waiting for him to be in a box, tell him." That comment was like a ton of bricks falling on my head.
One day not to long after I was over my Mom And Dad's house sitting in the living room with my Dad while my Mom was in the kitchen. After a period of time I said to my Dad, "Dad I have never told you this but I love you."
He was stunned and immediately said to me, "Are you alright do you need money?" I said "no, but I realize I have never told you I love you and I wanted you to know."
He behaved as though nothing had happened. But, about a week later a couple of my patients came into my office and told me that my Dad told all of them in the luncheonette where he use to stop in the morning for coffee and a newspaper. He told them he was waiting for years to hear me say "I love you".
I thought he knew I loved him by just being his youngest son, working with him and doing what he said, but, apparently hearing was more important to him than I thought.
So, at this most sensitive and emotional time of the year for many people of all ages, nationalities and religions, if you feel it say it, -I love you-, and both you and the person it is being said to will be enlightened
